Pricing and Other Policies
Patents, Trademarks-Prepaid, Flat Fee billing:
Unlike most other law firms, you will always know in advance how much our
patent & trademark work will cost. All patent and trademark work is performed
on a prepaid, flat fee basis. After an initial free review of your requirements,
we will provide a fixed fee quote for drafting and filing an application.
Work on your patent or trademark application will begin upon your payment of
50% of this fixed fee, plus a deposit towards anticipated filing fees.
Fixed fees for applications range from $500 to $10,000 for patents and $500 to $1,000 for trademarks.
Subsequent to filing the application, there will be no further cost to you
until a follow-up filing is required with the Patent Office, for example, an office
action response. That is, we do not bill our clients for reporting
out correspondence received from Patent Office, for docketing due dates, for
entering information into our databases, etc. When reporting out an action
from the Patent Office that requires a response, we will include in the
report-out letter a fixed fee quote for drafting the response, and work
thereon will begin upon your payment of this fixed fee.
Other Business Services:
(including licensing, business formation, commercial contracts, buying and selling assets, etc.)
These matters are billed on an hourly basis; however a cost estimate will be given
before work has begun. Normally a retainer of 50% of the estimate will be required
prior to the beginning of work.
Client Agreement Letter:
An attorney-client relationship does not begin until after a copy of a client
agreement letter is signed by the prospective client and returned, and after
we have conducted a conflict check.
Reporting out correspondence sent to and received from the Patent and Trademark Office:
Unless otherwise instructed by the client, a copy of all correspondence sent to and
received from the Patent and Trademark Office is sent to you for your files.
